About Us

The Story Behind Our Name

After practicing in the Quad Cities after graduating from chiropractic college in 2008, Menomonie chiropractor Dr. Chad Barfknecht opened up Clear Connection Chiropractic in 2009, purchasing the practice from the previous owners.

A chiropractor who he had previously worked with — Dr. Kevin Donka — was frequently talking about the importance of having a clear connection between the brain and body. That concept resonated with Dr. Chad and so he decided to name our chiropractic office Clear Connection Chiropractic. Dr. Chad is passionate about helping patients in Menomonie and Elmwood, Boyceville experience exceptional health.

How We Are Different

While some chiropractic practices concentrate on pain management, at Clear Connection Chiropractic our goal is to promote the health and wellness benefits of regular chiropractic care. Offering family wellness care with a focus on pediatrics and pregnancy, Dr. Chad wants his patients to understand that health comes from within, not in a pill bottle. We just need to support that process.

It’s gratifying to see people understand that chiropractic is more than just back pain, neck pain, and headaches. “When they truly see a change in their life beyond the pain management — to where the light bulb comes on and they get it — is highly fulfilling,” says Dr. Chad.

Our Practice Philosophy

We want to make sure that every single kid in our town is at some point going to get checked chiropractically. Well-known in the community, our practice is the go-to place for moms who know what we do as far as helping with pregnancy or with kids and babies. It’s an honor to have so many patients refer others to us.

The Clear Connection Chiropractic Mission

Our mission is to educate families in this town on the importance of chiropractic care at a young age and to keep them well for the rest of their life as far as using chiropractic. “My ultimate hope for my patients is that they understand how important it is to have a perfectly functioning nervous system — that they  have a spine that works well so they can adapt to their life to the best of their ability at all times,” says Dr. Chad.

Miracle Stories

Help for Seizures

Years ago, one of our patients was a little girl who underwent horrible birth trauma. Born in Eau Claire, she got helicoptered down to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She experienced terrible seizures for the first 3-4 weeks of life before her parents brought her home from the hospital. Fortunately, the great uncle of the baby was a patient of ours and told Dr. Chad about the birth. “I was able to talk to the mom and dad on the phone, and we got them to come in the office. At this point, the baby was on phenobarbital and all kids of neurological medications.”

Within about three weeks of the baby coming in for chiropractic care, she didn’t have any seizures. When the parents took their daughter back to the Mayo Clinic, they were completely astonished that nothing showed up on the EEGs. The girl got off the medications and is still doing great today without any seizure activity.

Success in Sensory Processing Case

A recent patient of Dr. Chad’s is an 11-year-old girl who had sensory processing issues. She was taking Trazodone to go to sleep every single night since second grade. Since the beginning of the year, she had only gone to school an average of one day a week before beginning care at the practice. The mom, who is a nurse, admitted to being skeptical about chiropractic. The girl was referred in by a psychologist or counselor.

Eight weeks after beginning care, she’s averaging four days a week at school and not taking Trazodone at all. She is doing great, and the mom and practice team are excited by her progress! To get kids off of medications like that is fulfilling for Dr. Chad.
